The Parkway West High School Band members are proud that we live in a community where individuals and corporations join together to make a difference in the lives of others.
Due to the current economic crisis, we are seeing parents working longer hours, looking for work or taking second jobs to support their families. We also recently received the news that already minimal education budgets are being cut or eliminated – specifically for music education. What this means for the Parkway West High School Band is that parents are unable to fund their child’s music education.
Why does this matter to us and to you? Did you know that studies report that music education provides the following benefits for our children and our communities?

Students receiving music education are less likely to be involved in gangs, drugs or alcohol abuse, and have better attendance in school.

Music encourages creativity, imagination, and emotional response. These areas are important for success throughout life.

Arts education develops collaborative and teamwork skills, technological competencies, flexible thinking, and an appreciation for diversity.

Music education exposes students to history and geography, directs them to science and teaches math, reading and writing.

Performance in concerts and festivals builds confidence and self esteem.

Studies prove that students who study music perform better in math, science and standardized tests.
This is why we are reaching out to you. We are requesting support from the community, from your company, to be a corporate sponsor of the Parkway West High School Band Boosters Association. Your sponsorship will be guaranteed to make a lasting difference in our community and in the lives of our children.
Your sponsorship for the 2010-2011 school year will help pay for required “no frills” expenses such as instructors, instrument repair and maintenance, uniforms, and buses and transportation. We will never use your money for parties or non-essential expenses.

On August 28, 2010, Parkway West Marching Band's Drumline Won the First Place in Division A at the Mozingo Competition at Francis Howell North.
