Band Boosters

The Parkway West Band Booster Organization is a volunteer parent group with the sole purpose being to support our children and the West band programs, which include Marching Band, Color Guard, Winter Guard and Concert Bands.  It takes a great deal of energy, ideas and organization each year to meet all the needs of the program.   As parents of students involved with the West Band programs, we are in a wonderful position to offer the assistance that is needed.  There is always plenty of room for more band families to join in the active support of the bands.  The Band Boosters hold a regular meeting in the West High band room to answer parent questions regarding the band program.  Our meeting schedule for 2007-08 is in the Blue Book or band schedule.

Currently, the Booster organization operates with a structure of officers and specific-purpose committees.  The officers make up the Executive Committee and work directly with the Band Director to accomplish the stated purposes of the Booster organization.  A vote of the general membership (held on March 14, 2005) changed the make-up of the Executive Committee to include the following positions (brief description of each is included):

  • President - Preside at all general and Executive Committee meetings. Appoint all committees. Supervise the operation of the Boosters. Work closely with the Director to support the Band program.

  • VP Band - Provide chaperones and handle all hotel and transportation arrangements for band activities as requested. Coordinate transportation for Voluntary Transfer Students. Oversee the Roadie Committee.

  • VP Guard - Responsible for all Color Guard operations including uniforms, props and equipment.
